The 2^nd meeting of the Syndicate.

The second meeting of Syndicate was held on 18.04.2008 at 06.45 P.M. in the Board Room of the University.  The meeting was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Anwarullah Chowdhury. All the members including Hon’ble Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Haque, Vice-Chairman & Treasurer Prof. Dr. Mokbul Ahmed Khan, Executive Director, Mrs. Shahin Mahbuba Haque, Former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled, Chairman of Regulatory Reforms Commission, Dr. Akbar Ali Khan, Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka, Prof. Dr. S.M.A. Faiz, Former Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka, Prof. Dr. M. Moniruzzaman Miah, Vice-Chancellor of Darul Ihsan University, Prof.  Monirul Haque and Registrar Mr. A.F.M. Golam Hossain were present in the meeting.

Some very important decisions were taken in the meeting. The Syndicate accepted the resignation of former Registrar Sayed Shahidul Bari and appointed Mr. A.F.M. Golam Hossain, a former Ambassador as the new Registrar. It was also unanimously decided in the meeting that Department of English, Department of Sociology and Anthropology would be opened from the next Semester.

The members present discussed about the state of affairs of higher education and opined that this University would not compromise with the standard of Education. It was decided to take appropriate steps to ensure the higher standard of education in the Green University of Bangladesh.   

It was also decided that the present condition of library and laboratories must be improved to make it a model private university. A draft of the statute was placed in the meeting. There was a lengthy discussion on it and finally approved with minor amendments.

The meeting was also informed about the appointment of Prof. Dr. Mokbul Ahmed Khan as the Treasurer of the Green University of Bangladesh by the Chancellor.      

Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Prof. Dr. Syed Rashidul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge), National University and Prof. Dr. M. Mahbub Ullah, Vice-Chancellor, International Islamic University Chittagong were present in the meeting as Guests.
